History
During Fall of the Quiet Year, as tensions between Lashara’s progressive faction and The Church of ITYS reached a breaking point, Lashara’s followers launched a clandestine project: a female-only assassin clan trained to overthrow the Church’s growing grip on the community.
The training was expected to take five weeks. The Lashïngs completed it in five days.
When the Church launched its Inquisition — tasked with prosecuting “evil” and hunting down the would-be assassins — the Lashïngs struck first. The Inquisition was permanently thwarted. The Church’s attempt to enforce its beliefs by the sword ended there.
The Lashïngs operated in the final weeks before the Frost Shepherds arrived. What became of them after The End is unrecorded — but their name, their methods, and their purpose survived.
Legacy
One hundred years later, The Lashings emerged as a professional guild network spanning multiple cities. Their history traces directly back to the Lashïngs — “originally a covert assassin order” who once infiltrated a church and assassinated its leadership (referenced by Foulclaw in 241113-ch2.1-wristband-race-war).
The Lashings were created as a deliberate homage to the Lashïngs. The ï was dropped from the name — but the lineage is clear.
The Quiet Year (Session 0)
