A rock-gnome artificer and “woman of science” — Steve’s Forgotten Hour PC — who survives the apocalypse and the century after it to become the ancient gnome patron of Chapter 1. The same person, ~a century older. “Anytime there’s an n there should be a g.”

Overview

Lashara is one of the saga’s keystones — the continuity link between The Forgotten Hour and Echoes of ITYS. In Chapter 0 she’s a community-minded gnome artificer who rides her summoned construct Pet Peeve into battle, distrusts zealots, and helps put down Zen. Gnomes live centuries, so she survives the 121-year gap to Chapter 1, where she’s an ancient scientist (with scissor/jaw PTSD from the apocalypse) who hires the party — via her will — to reach El Cinede, find her scout Manny, and bring back Veil-Tear samples. The southern city of Lashara is named after her against her wishes.

The Quiet Year (Session 0)

  • In Spring, Lashara — an inventive artificer — convinces the community to build a workshop to advance its technology, founding the pro-technology faction opposed to the nascent anti-tech The Church of ITYS.
  • In Summer she publicly dismantles Old Man Jenkins’ attempted coup with plain, “school-level” logic, disgracing him without violence.
  • Her lab is infiltrated and set ablaze by suspected Church spies, but a mysterious wave of crabs and seawater douses the fire before major damage.
  • She studies the Aarakocra’s weight-shifting hover-sled technology and later helps examine Old Man Jenkins’ rune-covered corpse.
  • After the Church launches its Inquisition, her followers form a female-only assassin clan — the direct precursor to The Lashings of Echoes of ITYS a century later — who permanently thwart that Inquisition.
