But the sleeping wizard at the heart of the dream is starting to stir, and half-forgotten names keep surfacing where they shouldn’t. Who has been pulling the strings of this perfect, repeating day? Do the next good deed. Do it faster.

Synopsis

The loop has snapped shut again. Fresh off narrowly losing the Battle of the Bands to Killasaurus by a single die roll — and a shared vision of the comatose wizard TBD stirring on a table ringed with strange runes — the party wakes right back at the fairground gates in the city of Magus, every item and injury reset as if by a long rest, their memories the only thing they get to keep. Nortle jogs the whole day loose by remembering a grumpy fan’s name (Fran Dressa), and the crew settles on a strategy that names the episode: since Good Deeds are what summon the elusive record man Wolfgang and inch them toward the finale, they’ll speed-run every kindness in the Fairgrounds and grab all six of the TBD Scrolls on the way.

What follows is a magnificent montage. They body-check two School of Magus punks bullying the shopkeep Talon Sharpclaw at Another Man’s Treasure (and pop a TBD scroll loose in the process); Foulclaw airdrops the team onto a hot-dog stand to swipe Paparazzi’s camera and recover superstar Ambiance’s stolen photos, earning backstage passes to the Meganacle; Xeros freezes a rampaging Soup Golem and the party lids it into the stratosphere; Basil airs out guitarist Jimmy Eccentric’s smoke-choked tent; and at the Choldreth Mud Wrestling Arena they lift a trophy TBD scroll and rig a pamphlet-and-Suggestion trap that leaves the announcer Ringo Shard and wrestler Amla as the fair’s most fervent new converts to the The Church of ITYS. At The Thirsty Maiden, Basil cons her way behind the bar so Fawn Butterface can finally go court her crush Van Illa, and a celebrity bartending shift from Nortle sells the place out. Even the coercion counts as kindness by fairground math: cornering the imp merchant Limp the Imp Bizkit against his caged The Shark n Bear, the party bullies him into cut-price weapon upgrades — carefully leaving him something so it doesn’t tip into a bad deed.

The good deeds keep paying out scrolls, and the scrolls keep paying out the truth. One TBD journal scroll finally puts a first name to the sleeping wizard — Traverius — and reveals his one great love, Lilith the Blood Witch, met during a crimson ritual deep in The Dark Woods. Then, with an active scroll in hand, the party walks into those same woods and the last memory blooms around them like a hologram: Wolfgang cornering Traverius at an ancient oak, demanding “the book,” and — when refused — drawing out the The Dreamcatcher, strumming it like a harp, and calling up the antlered horror the party has only glimpsed from the corner of their eyes: the The Dreamweaver. It settles its clawed hands over Traverius, drops him into endless sleep, and Wolfgang collects on his bargain. The vision fades — and there on the forest floor just ahead of them lies Wolfgang himself, fast asleep.

🎙️ Notable Moments

00:16:44 — Deciding how to break the loop, the party lands on the plan that names the episode: sprint the whole fair and bank every good deed before the finale.

Foulclaw: I kind of think we should gather the scrolls, like the children of ITYS. Nortle: Like the children of Israel, but scrolls. Foulclaw: Yeah. Speed run.

00:36:25Foulclaw snatches a mystery object mid-air and rolls a nat 20 on the loot table.

GM: What you caught was — oh gosh. You caught a glass jar containing a weird bit of flesh floating in a pickling fluid. Xeros: Is that lunch? That’s lunch, right? GM: That’s exactly what it is.

00:46:56Nortle rubs melted gold onto Talon Sharpclaw's hand as his new signature farewell.

GM: What do you call that? What do you call this move? Nortle: Call this the greasing the palm. Xeros: The gold handy?

01:59:01 — Mid-fight, the battered Soup Golem's carrot reforms into an eye that seems to wink at Nortle — who reads it exactly the wrong way.

GM: A carrot slumps down and forms an eye — you think it winks at you, almost like it’s taunting you. Nortle: I wink back. Xeros: Don’t seduce the soup. GM: It’s… a little confused.

02:31:28 — A nervous Foulclaw hangs back, so Basil struts straight behind the counter, ties on a spare apron, and cons her way into covering Fawn Butterface's shift so the owner can slip off to her crush — with Foulclaw drafted to back the lie.

Basil: LaDonna sent me to replace you. She said you were going to the show, so I’m here to take over the bar for a few minutes while you go see Van Illa. GM (Fawn Butterface): A bit forward, are we? Basil: Help me out, Foulclaw! Foulclaw: Well… uh… nope. GM (Fawn Butterface): She looks at you, a little confused — we’ve never met. Who told you about Van Illa?

03:46:46 — Cornering the imp merchant, the party negotiates — but keeps one eye on the fairground's good-and-bad-deed ledger.

Nortle: Listen, you’re going to upgrade all the weapons for half price. Basil: No, for free. Nortle: Got to give them something. I don’t want a bad deed.

03:58:09 — A TBD journal scroll (#274) reads out the sleeping wizard's first meeting with the woman who would become his wife — a page of purple prose long enough to lose the room.

GM (reading): Beneath the gnarled branches of the ancient oak, illuminated by her crimson magic, I saw her clearly… When she finally turned to me, her piercing eyes locked onto mine. I knew I had seen my destiny. The forest faded away — it was just the two of us, bound by an unspoken connection. Xeros: 797 — what did I miss? Foulclaw: Take me back to the night we met.

03:59:32 — The party recognizes the name inked on the scroll's symbol.

Xeros: Yeah, because I remember what that means. Nortle: It’s TBD’s wife’s name. Xeros: Is that the witch? Nortle: I imagine it is. The Blood Witch.

04:03:38 — The climactic memory-vision: Wolfgang refuses to take no for an answer, and reaches for the relic around his neck.

GM (Wolfgang): We’ll do this the easy way. Dreamweaver, I know you can help me get me through the night. GM: He strums it like a harp, and the whole area goes dark and clouded — and the Dreamweaver appears, massive and larger than life over Traverius, and puts its hands down, and he immediately falls asleep.

04:04:49 — The Dreamweaver closes its clawed hands over Traverius and he drops into endless sleep; vision-Wolfgang turns to collect, laying the whole betrayal bare.

GM (Wolfgang): I fulfilled my end of the bargain. I brought him to you. Here he is. Now keep your end of the bargain. GM: And as he keeps talking, his voice muffles and the memory-vision fades away. Foulclaw: That was… pretty cool.
